Sharing: What's Your Love Language?

Picture taken from Google.

It may be late to be blogging at this hour but I guess its better now or never especially when it comes random thoughts or emotions. What I would like to address now is the baby steps in getting to know oneself better, which is, do you know what's your love language? Knowing this little part of yourself may help you understand why you do the things you do or feel.

I got to know about this love languages back in 2012 and I really cannot recall how I stumble upon it. To be honest, when I took the test for the first time in 2012, all I thought was "ok, cool" and soon it faded into the archives of my brain.

The thing that brought this back was the conversation with my friend which somehow revealed to me what a horrible and awful person I am, Irresponsible with my emotions and actions which caused grief or bitterness in people around me, especially the people I love, When I thought I got it all in control or covered, it is things like these that comes knocking down on that ego throne I have made myself comfortable in. I guess it is true that He works in ways we cannot see.

I shan't talk much about the founder of this love languages test but I have attached a link to his profile with his name. Just click on it if you would like to read more about him.

Gary Chapman revealed that there are 5 types of love languages:

  • Quality Time
  • Acts of Service
  • Physical Touch
  • Words of Affirmation
  • Receiving Gifts
The definitions are:

Freakishly enough, it has been exactly 4 years and 13 days I last took the test. The same month but 4 years later! What are the odds. Hmm. Anyhow, here are my results:

So here's the summary (actually I did this table so that it is easier for me to summarize, LOL):

20122016
Acts of Service811Acts of Service
Physical Touch85Physical Touch
Quality Time79Quality Time
Words of Affirmation64Words of Affirmation
Receiving Gifts11Receiving Gifts

Based on the table, Acts of Services and Quality Time turns out to be my highest form of receiving love or perceiving love from someone and I had a mini epiphany that may also be my way of showing love to others as well. Yep, an 'Ah' moment happened when I saw the results.

Let me try to explain. I did receive comments throughout these four years on how I am 'motherly' or I exude that 'motherly' vibe that can be good but also bad if I don't keep it in check. How?

Good = caring, loving, etc.
Bad = possessive, bossy, etc.

Being the eldest of 5 children, I guess doing things for people have been wired in my brain since young. Examples: Helping my siblings (indirectly helping my mom) such as helping them to take a bath/helping them get dressed/helping them read or with their homework means = I love my siblings. This could explain why the "Acts of Service" ranks high on my list of love languages as I grow older, wider, and hopefully in maturity as well. So if I offer to do something for you, know that I like you enough and I am glad to be able to help. Please don't mistaken this as an opportunity to ask people of this love language to do things for you when they did not offer to help. HAHA.

Next on the list is 'Quality Time'. This is quite self-explanatory. As you grow over the years with good and bad experiences that makes you see and decide who and what is important in your life. Prioritizing. Also something that is still quite new to me. Quality time also requires commitment. One example could be, 'keeping to the agreed time' so that you will have more time to spend with one another instead of waiting on each other that may lead or encourage the simmering of contempt if not dealt with healthily.

Okay, it is best for me to stop typing now before I start spouting utter rubbish or go on some random sharing as my eyelids are starting to feel heavy. Anyway, before I end my post, I would just like to make it clear that I am in no way affiliated with the website. Just sharing it as I found it helpful in understanding myself better and those around me. You can give this love languages test a try at this link:

Take the test and share your story in the comments below.
I would love to hear from you.

Till next post,

Love,
Sarah :)

Hello! err.. 2016?

Wow. It has many moons since I last blogged an entry. I am truly sorry for leaving you in the dark for so long. There are so many emotions, memories, thoughts, rants I want to share. All of them contained inside of me, bursting at the seams. But every time when I get the chance to do so, something comes up.

I just completed my second semester of my Masters’ Degree and I hope to (no, damn well need to) start my dissertation as soon as possible. It was a packed and trying semester as the learning curve was painfully steep and I literally felt I was struggling to swim in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with only an orange, doughnut float that is keeping me from drowning.

But I managed to pull through and learnt how to piece the parts of research from scratch and managed to not fail any of my continuous assessments. Now with silent prayers laced with immense fear and hope, I am waiting for my exam results hoping I won’t have to repeat both papers.

As the wise Maya Angelou once said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better” - After discovering this quote, I felt some sense of relief and calmness. It hit a cord within me and its unlike any those quotes that says, “YOU CAN DO IT” or “AIM FOR THE STARS” etc. Her advice is a logical and achievable target, doing the best that you can until you know how to do it better. Something all struggling postgraduate students need to acknowledge and understand.

Well, I shall put my personal entry on hold for now and share with you on what happened last Thursday in my next post. See ya! :D

Sharing: Markets by Jaya One, 16th Installment!! #markets16

FINALLEH!!

A Markets on weekend where I am free from work! Eh, not really. Still have to work for an hour and a half on Saturday... but no biggie! Currently in the education line, hence my availability is subjected to the school holidays. So I am really, really excited about being able to swing by Markets this weekend!

So book this weekend and bring your friends and family along! Yes, yes - drag the poor boyfriend too. I know I will! But I don't think he would mind because he has his Yo-yo clan meet up every Saturday at The School. Grown men, but will forever be boys at heart. A living proof that there's always something for everyone at Jaya One! Girly stuff for me and toys for le bf. Wait, not forgetting palate-worthy FOOD and therapeutic COFFEE for the both of us.

In all honesty, I have lost count of how many Jaya One's Markets I have been to and it's a good thing because that's a sign that it is GROWING!

As always, Markets found ways to spice up every event with a big help from various of collaborators consisting of engaging brands or companies. At this 16th installment, it's no different. Shopee Malaysia is on board as their main sponsor. So tons of goodies awaits you and your loved ones! Now, you may be thinking - Who or What is Shopee Malaysia?

On unfamiliar waters you have sailed on, but now its time to dock.

Shopee Malaysia is a fairly new app which can be found on Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Growing as fast as time passes us by, it's an upcoming shopping mobile app that allows you to buy and sell anywhere and anytime. Ah, before you raise that skeptical Malaysian eyebrow at me, be ecstatic to know that the app is FREE. Yes, I will repeat myself. It's FREE. Your favourite word, yes? HEHE.

Yes, the app is free of charge. There's no transaction fee and it's a great way to clear your preloved items so that you can buy more! Just kidding. On a serious note, this app is a great for budding entrepreneurs to kick-start your own business without tons of risk. Go forth, my young Padawans! Spread your wings! FLYYYY. ok, too much sugar.

***
A normal scene at every Markets. Love the happy bustling and chattering! (when I'm in the mood).
TIP(S)!
  1. Being an avid online and offline shopper, I would always take this opportunity to 'save' on postage fees and collect my purchases from the vendors. But please do check with your respective vendors to make arrangements if needed. I do love meeting the brain or brains behind the awesome stuff and service! :)
  2. Wear comfortable shoes/slippers. It's really no fun dragging your feet around because there's so much to see and do!
  3. Allocate sufficient cash. If you don't trust yourself, entrust some of the cash to your sane shopping buddy. Everyone has a sane shopping buddy. If not, time to discover one!
  4. Bring a clothing measuring tape. You will thank me later.
  5. Allocate your phone battery life wisely. If not, how to selfie or instagram every d**n thing? But seriously, its for your own safety and for your friend or bf to keep track of you. Yes, I am speaking from experience. HEHE.
  6. Stay hydrated. DRINK WATER. Coffee, ice-cream, and sodas are NOT water. Yes, you.
  7. Make a list. Mentally or scribbled on a piece of paper, list down the vendors you really want to visit especially if you have a friend or bf with an embedded 2 hour timer.
  8. Lastly, make a shopping list. Go stalk the vendors below so that you won't be disappointed.

Because of I love you darling readers, I have painstakingly listed down the vendors that will be at this coming #markets16. Don't say I don't love you okeh.

New Product Alert : ELF Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in Fiji (Matte)

Attention all 'oil-rig' skinned ladies! (I'm oily-skinned too, y'all)

ERMAIGADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
ELF Cosmetics has finally. Yes, like finally. *flipshair*

Finally launched their new ELF Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in Fiji, a MATTE -
I repeat, MATTE version.

OH, I IZZ ZZO EXCITEDDDDD!!

Well, this product might ring a bell or two as I blogged about their first version of ELF Studio Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder, in St. Lucia (previously known as Original) : http://bit.ly/elfstudiostlucia which contains shimmer. Based on the multiple reviews I have come across, quite a handful of ladies steered clear because it would add on unwanted shine or enlarged their pores due to their oily skin.

Now ELF has heard your cries and ANSWERED with a MATTE version! Good job, ELF! Keep reeling us in and making us stay because of your affordable products. Still feeling a little sore at you for not shipping your products to Malaysia. Hmmph. But I still love ya!

The million dollar question.. Will I purchase this product? In a heart beat, YES.

Does this product strike your fancy?
Yay or Nay?

Thank you for reading!
Love,
Sarah :)

Sharing : How to Stay Safe on Carousell/Online (Pervert Edition)

Hi everyone,

I never expected or wanted this to be my first post on Carousell. But I have to quickly brief you about my experience on Carousell earlier this week. Please know that I have a few Carousell posts lined up for you. Need more time to arrange my thoughts well.

Earlier this week, for the first time I have encountered a pervert (yes, I am confident he/she is) on Carousell. Here are the screenshots of the conversation with this "@jennyhello" who later changed his/her name to @shane89 :

RED ALERT : Hey Babe! Is the material very thin? I'm from Aus and I don't really wear bra. Can u model it for me so I can see if it's too sheer for me? Many thanks!

Note : No (man or woman) in their right mind, would ask a random person for a modelled picture WITHOUT a bra. Or reveal that they don't really wear (a) bra. Seriously???

ADVICES :
  • If the person claims that he/she is a 'serious buyer' and insists on knowing how sheer is the material of your clothing, just provide a picture with your hand behind the material. It's easy and requires no extra photography help. All you need is good lighting. If the person demands for you to model it, you know something is very wrong.

    Example :
    Source
As you can see, that's my left hand with a ring on my middle finger.
Hence your potential buyer is able to estimate without you 'modelling' it.
  • Never provide modelled pictures of clothes you know that is revealing/sheer. Especially lingerie. The pictures can be used against you or used without your knowledge on unscrupulous websites. Save yourself the drama and trauma.
  • If you are confident in providing modelled pictures, please do at least edit your pictures to keep yourself safe. There are many apps on Andriod/Itunes. My favourite is CatWang, because it has faces of cats and I love cats. #crazaycatlady.

    Example :
  • Source

  • Be polite. Regardless of how the person is on the other side, be the bigger person and decline in the most gracious way possible. There is no need to throw accusations unless proven guilty. As for me, I prefer my 'teacher' tone - no nonsense, strict, and unflinching.
  • Report to the admin. If you encounter a suspicious character on Carousell or he/she still presses on the 'modelled picture' matter - report him/her immediately. Do your part as well to keep the community safe. Below is the steps on how to report to the admins.

Step 1 : Tap on the 3 white dots on the top right of your phone screen.
Step 2 : Select 'Report user'. The list of reasons on 'Why are you reporting this user?' will pop up.
Step 3 : Scroll all the way down and select 'Suspected fraudster'.
Example :
This is the latest version of Carousell on Andriod.

The Carousell team should respond/investigate within a 24 - 42 hours time frame depending on the availability of their manpower. Below is the screenshots on my instagram and twitter where +Carousell responded to them quite promptly.

I feel safe and glad that Carousell is doing all they can to keep the community safe for us to confidently sell our preloved or brand new items. I have been on Carousell's app since last year when they first started out and when Friendly Fashion Malaysia was forced to close down. So far, this is the best app for selling unwanted preloved or brand new items. Keep up with the awesome job, Carousell Malaysia!

Follow Carousell Malaysia on :

Share with me on how to handled them.

Maybelline New York Pure Liquid Mineral Healthy Natural Liquid Foundation & Maybelline New York Pure Liquid Mineral Healthy Natural Concealer

*testing 123 testing*

I am actually blogging from my new baby, Sony Xperia TX via the app "Blog It!" which I downloaded a few days ago. Let's see how it fares :)

Just bought this duo today from Watsons as they were on sale and I have been meaning to try it ever since I tested it. The texture is really runny which makes blending so easy and effortless. I sincerely hope that it will help me look effortlessly made up! :p

Stay tuned for a review!
