Annoucement : Golden Rose has reached our shores! Part 3

Now, let's continue with Part 3. Part 3 of the Golden Rose has reached our shores posts is mainly about face and nails products. The posts are based mainly on my first impressions of the products and I will share which products I think is promising. Thank you so much in advance for following this lengthy post and I sincerely hope you do enjoy reading them. Let's carry on, shall we?

Foundations and Powders

As you can see, there are 5 out of 7 foundations which was introduced to me. Golden Rose has these on their website:

  • Golden Rose Perfect Finish Liquid Foundation
  • Golden Rose Moisturizing Cream Foundation
  • Golden Rose Satin Smoothing Liquid Foundation
  • Golden Rose Stick Foundation
  • Golden Rose Compact Foundation
  • Golden Rose Mousse Foundation
  • Golden Rose Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation

Please note that the notes below is a recollection of my memory and experience with the products. I will edit it whenever needed. In the picture above, from left to right:
  • Golden Rose Liquid Powder Mineral Foundation in 03 -
    Consistency : Light, runny
    Finish : Light, powdery finish
  • Golden Rose Perfect Finish Liquid Foundation in 51
Consistency : Thick, creamy but not heavy
    Finish : Smooth
  • Golden Rose Stick Foundation in 05
Consistency : Thick, dry yet creamy
Finish : Full coverage, feels heavy
  • Golden Rose Satin Smoothing Liquid Foundation in 22
Consistency : Almost similar with GR Perfect Finish but lighter
Finish : Light medium coverage, feels lightweight
  • Golden Rose Moisturizing Cream Foundation in 03
    Consistency : Lightweight, watery
Finish : Light coverage, feels like a tinted foundation

Now on to the powders! Oh mai. There are 6 types of powder products I was given to play with swatch my heart's content. Again, here's the list of powders Golden Rose provides:
  • Golden Rose True Matte Pressed Powder
  • Golden Rose Paris Compact Powder
  • Golden Rose Mineral Terracotta Powder
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Compact Powder
  • Golden Rose Pressed Powder
  • Golden Rose Compact Foundation (termasuk in this category. LOL)

On the left side, the three powders are:
  • Golden Rose Mineral Terracotta Powder in 01 :
I'm in love with this powder. It's so smooth and the finish is just amazing. It strongly reminds me of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish and this is definitely on my must-have list.
  • Golden Rose True Matte Pressed Powder in 05 :
All I can say is, if you are a fan of mattifying products you might want to look out of this powder. Oily skinned girls, rejoice!
  • Golden Rose Pressed Powder in 106 Beige :
I can't remember much about this powder.
On the right side, the three powders are:
  • Golden Rose Paris Compact Powder in 61:
This powder is just down right pretty, the kind which will make you reluctant to use it because you are afraid you might ruin the imprint of an Eiffel Tower in the middle of the powder. Very finely milled and this seems promising.
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Compact Powder in 06:
Also finely milled. Doesn't feel as dry as the True Matte Pressed Powder. Dry skinned ladies should give this a try.
  • Golden Rose Compact Foundation in 09:
Now, I know you might be thinking - "Who has skin as white as that?!". I thought the same too. It was quite an eye-opener when I swatched it. I am guessing you can use this as a part of your contouring. Maybe.

Blushers and Bronzers

I bet you blush and bronzer fiends were waiting for this part, eh? Well, wait no more! Golden Rose has 5 blushers in their collection:
  • Golden Rose Terracotta Stardust
  • Golden Rose Terracotta Blush-On
  • Golden Rose Ball Blusher
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Blush-On
  • Golden Rose Powder Blush

Here are the blushers:
  • Golden Rose Powder Blush in 01 Pastel Pink
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Blush-On in 210
  • Golden Rose Terracotta Blush-On in 02
  • Golden Rose Ball Blusher in 03

There are only 2 bronzing product from Golden Rose:
  • Golden Rose Terra Powder (SPF15) in 103
  • Golden Rose Mineral Bronze Powder in 01

If I were to chose which blushers and bronzers, I'd go for GR Powder Blush, GR Silky Touch Blush-On, GR Ball Blusher, and last but not least, GR Mineral Bronze Powder because I am not a fan of shimmer. I am quite fussy when it comes to shimmer.

Nail Polishes

IT'S SO PRETTY RIGHT??

For me, I am not exactly a nail polish fan. I can't design my nails to save my life. I can only paint one colour at a time. If anyone were to ask me to review nail polishes, I will always recommend these two ladies in my life who does nail art in their sleep. They are : Laura and Sydney. These two does magic with their nails. No kidding.

Golden Rose's nail polish collection and it's glory!
Here's a summed up picture and a sad swatch on the far bottom right.
Golden Rose's French Manicure
Okay, please excuse my sad-looking swatches of the nail polishes. Anyway, I must bring your attention to this particular nail product from Golden Rose, le French Manicure. To be honest, I have attempted French Manicure about 3 times in my lifetime and failed miserably. This time, even though it was 'cincai' (simply) done but it does resemble a French Manicure! A pathetic-looking one but hey, I was quite happy about it. This French Manicure set is on my must-have list from Golden Rose.

Well that's all from Golden Rose for now. I was sent a frew products from Golden Rose Malaysia to review, and that's in the works. Anyway, here's the list of my wishlist/must-have products from Golden Rose:
  • Golden Rose Velvet Matte Lipstick
  • Golden Rose Liquid Concealer
  • Golden Rose Luxury Lip Color Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Ultra Volume x4 Mascara
  • Golden Rose Eyebrow Powder
  • Golden Rose Style Liner Metallic Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Black & Black Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Dipliner Liquid Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Wet & Dry Eyeshadow
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Matte Eyeshadow
  • Golden Rose Perfect Finish Liquid Foundation
  • Golden Rose Mineral Terracotta Powder
  • Golden Rose Ball Blusher
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Blush-On
  • Golden Rose Powder Blush
  • Golden Rose Mineral Bronze Powder
  • Golden Rose French Manicure

I really can't wait for Golden Rose Malaysia to open their physical store soon! Are you as excited as I am?? Stay tuned for my review! <3

Thank you for reading!

Sarah :)

Review : Yogurugen Colon D'Tox

Do you know that there's only about 58 days between 2014's Christmas and 2015's Chinese New Year celebration? It's hardly 2 months and we are back to eating. Eating. Eating. More eating. Oh, glorious food! From piping hot and freshly prepared dishes to baked delicacies. Oh yes. Not forgetting, food is available 24/7 in Malaysia. If you are hungry, all you need is a car and cash to satisfy your late night cravings. There's 24/7 fast food outlets, mamaks, and odd-hours eateries like this famous Flying Char Siew Wan Tan Mee at Seapark, PJ.

I caught your attention with the word 'flying', eh? Dear foodies, you should google it up and make a trip there one day. I used have supper almost every other night when I was in my first of university at another famous eatery, fondly known as the Nasi Lemak Bumbung in Seapark, Petaling Jaya. Being a freshie, social life was quite happening back then. Now, I kinda regret all that nasi lemak I had at 1am. Oyvey.

With all that eating, there weren't enough vegetables or fruits in my diet because it's quite difficult to obtain and maintain fresh food. It is due to the fact that there's no fridge to store fresh food in my small, residential college room. Unlike back at home, I had my mom to force me to eat vegetables or fruits. So, without a balanced diet and overeating, I started to experience poor digestive system and weak immune system. Falling sick was easy because of the lifestyle.

I wished I had found out about Yogurugen Colon D'Tox during my university days. Well, it's better late than never! I was given the opportunity to test out Yogurugen Colon D'Tox by Sasa Malaysia. Based on the instructions, I'm supposed to consume it for 3 consecutive days for the first time and once every week after that. So on with the review!

Cute, cartoon looking faeces on the top left.
There're 5 sachets in a box. Enlarge the picture to zoom in.
Important information
Easy peasy to make and drink!

How to Use

  1. Mix 1/2 or 1 sachet with 200ml of lukewarm water below 40C.
  2. Consume on an empty stomach.
  3. Consume for 3 consecutive days for the first treatment, and once every week thereafter.
  4. Avoid taking solid food at least 2 hours after drinking.
  5. Be physically active to improve bowel movement.

Review

Day 1 (Thursday)

  • Took Yogurugen Colon D'Tox drink at 11am and waited till 1pm before I had solid food.
  • Stomach felt terribly uneasy.
  • Ran to the toilet twice within the first hour after consuming Yogurugen Colon D'Tox.
  • When I passed motion, it felt like I had serious food poisoning.
  • Felt dehydrated after the two 'sessions' in the toilet.
  • My stomach felt extremely uneasy for the whole day.
  • Conclusion : Felt pretty useless and unproductive throughout the whole day.

Day 2 (Friday)

  • Took Yogurugen Colon D'Tox drink at 10am and waited till 12pm before consuming solid food.
  • Went to the toilet only once after the first hour.
  • Felt slight uneasiness in my stomach but it was much better than Day 1.
  • Passed motion with much ease.
  • Felt less bloated but was extremely gassy - farted quite a lot but there wasn't any terrible scent.
  • Conclusion : Felt much better than Day 1 and could carry out tasks normally.

*** I skipped 'Day 3' on Saturday as I had work from morning till evening. I dare not risk it because I had no breaks in between my classes and I can't leave my students for more than 5 minutes. So I decided to push it to Sunday instead.

Day 3 (Sunday)

  • Took Yogurugen Colon D'Tox drink at 9.15am and waited till 11.15am before consuming solid food.
  • My stomach felt uneasy throughout the 2 hours but wasn't as bad as Day 1.
  • There was no urge to run to the toilet during the 2 hours.
  • Went to the toilet after an hour of consuming solid food.
  • Experienced a lot of wind and farted quite frequently but thank goodness I mastered the art of suppressing the sound and smell. I was in the midst of a church service, ok.
  • Conclusion : Thank goodness I did not embarrassed myself in church. I felt so much better than Day 1.

Today is the second day of not consuming Yogurugen Colon D'Tox drink and I did not experience any side effects. Everything seems normal but I feel much 'lighter' compared to the days before I took the Yogurugen Colon D'Tox drink. Overall, I am glad that my system has been cleared out and trips to the toilet aren't much of a struggle now.

Let's talk about the taste. On the box, it states that it's an orange flavoured drink. When I first opened the sachet, the citrus scent burst out and it smelt lovely. When I mixed it with lukewarm water and drank, all I can say is that it is an acquired taste. It wasn't very sweet or sour and tasted something like Eno. But I learnt how to gulp it down without letting the taste bother me. You have to try it out yourself. As the saying goes, 'one man's meat is another man's poison'.

Conclusion

It was truly an experience and it was a much better experience than the detox tea I had about 4 years ago which left me running to the toilet a few times every single time I drank it - which is not good. I chucked the entire box aside, leaving it to rot. RM70+ wasted.

At least for Yogurugen Colon D'Tox drink, it had a gradual effect which is acceptable and most importantly it doesn't seriously interrupt our daily life by making us park our posterior at the toilet bowl for hours or days. If you are planning to try out the treatment, my suggestion would be :
  • Start this treatment on your off days or days when you're sure you won't be driving around.
  • A clean, comfortable toilet is a must for the first 2 - 3 days.
  • Be mentally prepared to feel unproductive or paralyzed on Day 1 (varies from individuals).
  • Drink lots of water to replenish your body fluids.
If you are interested in trying out this product, it's available at all Sasa Malaysia outlets priced at RM68 a box. But do check them out from time to time, as they have special offers. Well, I hope you have found this review useful in deciding whether you should give yourself some serious internal cleaning. Please do leave a comment below if you have any questions or if you have tried it. Sharing is caring! :)

Thank you for reading!

Love,
Sarah :)

Annoucement : Golden Rose has reached our shores! Part 2

EYE. SEE. YUHH. You are back for Part 2!

Haha, it a sign I am mentally exhausted but my fingers won't stop typing. Let's not waste anymore precious time, shall we? This is my favourite part of any makeup line. The eyes collection. Ooh, I am infamously known as the Mascara Monster because I eat mascaras. Figuratively. Most of my friends or family members can vouch for that because I have tons of used mascaras that I do not have the heart to throw away. Yes, I think can add Mascara Hoard to my list now. I loveeeee mascaras!

Eye Collection

Mascaras

Golden Rose has a healthy range of mascaras to pick from. If you think their range of lipglosses is crazy, think again when you see this list of mascaras they have!
  • Golden Rose Volume & Define Miracle Lash Ultra Black Mascara
  • Golden Rose Definitive Volume & Length Mascara
  • Golden Rose Sexy Black Mascara
  • Golden Rose Instant Full Volume Cat Walk Mascara

  • Golden Rose Ultra Volume x4 Mascara
Have I lost you yet? With this long list of mascaras, the mascara fiend in me is just bursting with joy! I haven't gotten the chance to try them out yet but when I do, I will surely let you know how they perform.

Golden Rose Wonder Lash Mascara 12x Volume & Lash Lift's brush on the right.

As you can see from above, I was introduced to 6 mascaras that might be brought in this coming March/April 2015 which are  :
  • Golden Rose Peferct Lashes Maxi Curl Mascara
  • Golden Rose Perfect Lashes Great Waterproof Mascara
  • Golden Rose Perfect Lashes Ultra Volume x4 Mascara
  • Golden Rose Wonder Lash Mascara 12x Volume & Lash Lift
  • Golden Rose Definitive Volume & Length Mascara
  • Golden Rose Sexy Black Mascara
  • Golden Rose 3D Fantastic Lash Mascara *as seen in their instagram account*
Let's talk about Golden Rose Wonder Lash Mascara 12x Volume & Lash Lift. It comes in this reflective, gold tube that resembles like a mini gold brick/tube. Admittedly, the packaging does gives that luxurious vibe. Whereas the brush, it looks promising but I sincerely hope it's 12x Volume & Lash Lift claim lives up to its name. This may not be the best brush for beauties with small eyes or sparse or short eyelashes. Allow me to guide you to pick the best mascara brush for your eyelashes to achieve your desired look.

Now, here I have taken close-up pictures of Golden Rose Definitive Volume & Length Mascara and Golden Rose Sexy Black Mascara. The Golden Rose Definitive Volume & Length Mascara comes in a reflective, bright metallic pink tube with a slight twist in the design. The wand is peanut-shaped which is good for long, dark eyelash owners. Not one of my favourite mascara wands but it's workable if you know the best technique to use it. If not, you would be struggling trying to add volume when you are in a rush. Not fun.

Whereas for the Golden Rose Sexy Black Mascara, it comes in this sweet pink tube, with it's back clad in actual black lace. I kid you not. For mascara collectors, this is one mascara you should add to your collection. The packaging is down right prettyyyyyy. As for the wand, it's a sphere-shaped wand allowing you to coat each lash with precision starting from the lash line. The round brush curls and separates lashes perfectly, making the lashes look fuller and dense.

Last but not least, the three musketeers! All of them comes in a black and gold tube and this range is called Perfect Lashes. Oh, how I'd love perfect lashes! If I were to personally pick the mascara for my personal use, it would be volume, volume, and volume. No volume, no buy. Simple as that. I must have volume when it comes to my eyelashes and had always envied my Indian friends who are blessed with thick, luscious lashes! Especially my boyfriend. I feel so jealous whenever I look at his eyelashes. It's ridonkulously long and thick! :p

Eyebrow Pencil and Eyebrow Powder

Eyebrows! To be honest, it was only last year I begin to pick up the eyebrow pencil to use on my eyebrows. I always had this fear of looking like Crayon Shinchan.

Yes, I'm not kidding. I follow tons of makeup gurus on instagram and their eyebrows are like beyond perfection. Which human on earth have natural eyebrows like that?!! It's super frustrating because the standards for 'perfect' makeup has been set so high that it seems impossible to achieve that 'perfect' look. Okay, back to the products. Here I have Golden Rose Dream Eyebrow Pencil and Golden Rose Eyebrow Powder. The Golden Rose Dream Eyebrow Pencil consists of 9 colours ranging from shade 301 to 309. As for the Golden Rose Eyebrow Powder, the shades consists of 7 shades ranging from 101 to 107. All I can say is the Eyebrow Powder is promising.

Eyeliners

If you are an eyeliner Monster, you should be looking forward to Golden Rose's range of eyeliners. The swatches of the eyeliners are just.. WOW. Really. There are 9 types of eyeliner from Golden Rose, which are:

  • Golden Rose Cat Eyes Liner
  • Golden Rose Precision Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Style Liner Metallic Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Black & Black Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Perfect Lashes Black Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Extreme Sparkle Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Dipliner Liquid Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Volume Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Black Eyeliner

I can't wait to get my hands on GR Style Liner Metallic Eyeliner! Look at that gold! It's just gorgeous. I have never seen such shade of gold before. It looks soft and smooth. Super excited here!!

Eyeshadows

When it comes to eyeshadows in Golden Rose, some of them are a hit and miss. Here are the list of eyeshadows Golden Rose provides:
  • Golden Rose Selective Colour Palette Eyeshadow (3 selections)
  • Golden Rose Professional Palette Eyeshadow (10 selections)
  • Golden Rose Wet & Dry Eyeshadow (7 selections)
  • Golden Rose Eyeshadow Palette (Only one)
  • Golden Rose Terracotta Eyeshadow (8 selections)
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Matte Eyeshadow (14 selections)
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Pearl Eyeshadow (34 selections)
Let's view the swatches!
Golden Rose Wet & Dry Eyeshadow in 07
This GR Wet and Dry eyeshadow in shade 07 comes in a baked formula where you can use the eyeshadows wet or dry, hence the name of the palette! When applied dry, it seemed a little weak but it was still an acceptable pigmenation. But when I swatched it with my damp fingers, I was literally blown away by its finish and pigmentation. Look at that wine colour red with slight purple undertones! I am in love! I dare say this palette is a must-have if you are following the colour of the year.

GR Selective Colour Palette Eyeshadow in 02
Remember I mentioned about a hit and miss earlier? Yep, unfortunately for this Sleek I-Divine palette look-alike, the matte eyeshadows were quite disappointing. The formulas reminds me of Sleek's previous I-Divine formulas where the mattes were quite chalky. But I do think the chalkiness can be overcomed by a good eye primer. I shall let the swatches do the talking.

Left : Golden Rose Professional Palette in Smokey Eyes
Right : Golden Rose Silky Touch Matte Eyeshadow in 206
Another hit and miss for GR Professional Palette in Smokey Eyes. It looks so good in its packaging and pan but when swatches. Aiyyyeee. On the far right, it's the GR Silky Touch Matte Eyeshadow in 206. Surprisingly, this swatched pretty well. It wasn't patchy or chalky. The single eyeshadows seems promising!

Well, that's about it for Part 2. See you in Part 3!

Thank you for reading!
Love,
Sarah :)

Sharing: Golden Rose has reached our shores! Part 1

Woohoo! The third week of 2015! How has 2015 been treating you so far? I am jam-packed with worksheet preparation for my classes. Have to quickly find a way that saves time!

Last month, I was invited by Joanne from Golden Rose Malaysia for a private viewing and testing of their new and upcoming make-up line from Turkey. Can I hear a WOOP WOOP from my Muslim readers?! :D

I'm excited for you guys! Most of my close friends are Muslims and I can now confidently share awesome products with them. I love helping them look their best with minimal makeup, looking fresh and professional enough for work. To be honest, there aren't many halal products in the Malaysian market which is pretty disappointing. With that problem identified, CC Beauty Avenue decided to bring in Golden Rose to our Malaysian shores. No more Halal woes!

As I was typing the post out, I realized that it was going to be a super lengthy one. Hence, for friendly-viewing purposes I divided this post into 3 parts.
  • Part 1 (Lips and Concealer Collection)
  • Part 2 (Eyes Collection)
  • Part 3 (Face and Nails Collection)

Who is Golden Rose?

Golden Rose has been around for 30 years in the European countries and they are one of the biggest few colour cosmetics manufacturer today with their very own production factory. According to a source, they are now available in more than 90 countries worldwide. Their products are basically 90% manufactured in Turkey, 10% from other Europe countries like Germany, C.Republic, etc. Hence, this brand is a much more safer option than products from China (pasar malam 'inspired/replica' branded makeup, I'm looking at you!).

Golden Rose is registered under their sister company, CC BEAUTY AVENUE, and they are the exclusive distributor in Malaysia. The products will be available in retail outlets by March/April 2015 and be rest assured they will be screened and approved by our Malaysian Health Ministry.

For more information about the brand, you can read up here:

Do show them some love by following them on :

Lips Collection

Before we begin, I dare say I'll let the swatches do the talking. Their lipstick collection consists of breath-taking shades and amazing quality. The cherry on top of the cake, is their affordable pricing. So far, on their website they only have the Golden Rose Velvet Matte Lipstick but fret not, I'm sure there will be more selection coming soon this March/April 2015! The Velvet Matte Lipstick swatched beautifully with no tugging whatsoever. It glided on smoothly and required only one swipe to achieve full opacity.

Golden Rose lipstick collection consists of :
  • Ultra Rich Color Lipstick
  • Golden Rose Lipstick
  • Golden Rose Perfect Shine Lipstick
  • Golden Rose 2000 Lipstick
  • Golden Rose Velvet Matte Lipstick
  • GR Vision Lipstick
  • Golden Rose Ultra Diamonds Lipstick (not available in the picture)

I have listed them according to the picture below from top left to bottom right.
Some random swatches of the lipsticks above.
The entire range of Golden Rose Velvet Matte Lipstick. The variety of shades is simply mind-blowing!
There's something for everyone.
Golden Rose Velvet Matte Lipstick swatches. Close to colour as much as possible.

Here I have two out of three lip pencils from Golden Rose, which are Golden Rose Dream Lips Lipliner and Golden Rose Waterproof Lipliner Pencil.  I am in love with the shades here. The third picture shows what's left of the lipliners after I have used a baby wet wipe to rub them off. They did not give in easily as I did rub hard. They really do stay and that's a good thing! The lipliners glided on smoothly without any hiccups and I personally love the Golden Rose Waterproof Lipliner Pencil because of its retractable feature. After years of using makeup, retractable pencils are my go-to items because it does not require sharpening to use them.

Here are the two types of concealers from Golden Rose - Golden Rose Stick Concealer and Golden Rose Liquid Concealer. Golden Rose Stick Concealer's packaging strongly reminds me of Physicians Formula's Stick Concealer I once had. It is shaped like a lipstick and you'll need to twist up the product to use. The shade here is Shade 04 and I am very much aware with the fact that it is appears almost white and seem impossible to use. I had a mini heart-attack when I swatched it. I'm guessing this Shade 04 would be great for highlighting or contouring purposes unless you have a porcelain white skintone.

Whereas for the Golden Rose Liquid Concealer, it's application strongly reminds me of Loreal Paris Magic Lumi Highlighter Concealer Pen that I have. I love it's smooth, hydrating texture and forsee that this would be an excellent undereye concealer for non-serious dark circles. I'm personally looking out for this concealer when it hits the shelves because with my upcoming classes (yesh, I'll be pursuing my Masters this coming February!) I'm gonna need serious pick-me ups to look more human and less like a dead duck (no offense, Daffy.).

If I were to compare it to the famous YSL Touche Eclat Concealer, I am not sure because I don't have one yet (#wishlist) but will let you know if this is a dupe! In addition to that, it's transparent plastic packaging reminds me more of ELF Essential Hypershine Lipgloss minus the brush applicator. Yes, when you use alot of products you'll realize that a lot of cosmetics have the same or similiar packaging.

Now for the lipglosses! Here I have Golden Rose Luxury Lip Color Lipgloss, Golden Rose Color Sensation Lipgloss, and Golden Rose Ultimate Color Lipgloss. There are actually 10 types of lipgloss in GR's collection. TEN!! SEPULUH!! (O - O)''' That's alot. So, calling all lipgloss fiends! If you are looking to expand your lipgloss collection, go ahead and tweet/FB Golden Rose Malaysia and they might, I repeat, MIGHT hear your cravings out ;)

Because I love my readers, I shall list them down here :
  • Golden Rose Luxury Lip Color Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Color Sensation Lipgloss *NEW*
  • Golden Rose Ultimate Color Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Pearl Gloss Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Shimmer Gloss Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Beauty Ultra Diamonds Volume Lipgloss - that's a mouthful.
  • Golden Rose Beauty Ultra Shine Volume Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Beauty Multicolor Diamonds Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Ultra Brilliant Tube Lipgloss
  • Golden Rose Fruit Roll On Lipgloss
*phew*

The Golden Rose Luxury Lip Color Lipgloss's packaging strongly resembles Makeup Revolution's Wow Lipgloss but texture-wise I am not sure as I don't own any MR Wow Lipgloss at the moment. I didn't find it sticky and it applied pretty well. I love the fact that it is pigmented for a lipgloss and personally, I cannot stand sheer lip products unless it states lipbalm or a clear/transparent lipgloss. I'm weird that way. For me, lip products besides lip balm or clear lipgloss should be pigmented enough to be seen when worn on the lips. Yeah, I think it's just me.

Anyway, this Golden Rose Luxury Lip Color Lipgloss in shade 09 had me at hello. I fell in love immediately when I swatched it. Yep, swatch at first sight. The color is just right for anyone who wants color but not come off too strong. It gives that youthful, sweet, and happy vibe everytime I see it. Ah, can't wait to own you, little one! I won't be talking about the other two lipglosses as I can't remember much about them. I'll let the swatches do the talking.

Well, that's all for Part 1. See you in Part 2! :D

Thanks for reading!

Love,
Sarah :)

Review : Shupette Has-It-All Eye & Lip Palette, Shupette Eye-Need-Shu Liner, Shupette Silk Cushion Cheek

Happy New Year, everybody! :D

How's has 2015 been treating you so far? Bad? Good?
For me, it has been a super packed one. Not that I'm complaining but 2014 had been a sharp learning curve for me, I was initially planning to come up with a post to sum up 2014 but I had a hard time putting together what I want or can share with all of you. I still can't seem to open up on a personal level here. Ever since I started university, I learnt a lot about branding - especially self-branding, the importance of privacy, and filtering whatever you put online.

On a lighter note, allow me to get back my typing flow again. My writing/blogging skills are super rusty that I crumble inside everytime I start a post. The majority of the time, the post would end up in the drafts collecting 'dust'.

Anyhooooo (anyhow).. Today, I'll be sharing my thoughts on Shu Uemura's 2014 holiday collection. I was blessed with the opportunity to play around with Shu Uemura's 2014 Holiday Collection. I have been using the palette for the past month and it was my go-to palette for almost every look. You think, you name it.

Shu Uemura Shupette has-it-all eye & lip palette - RM350

It fits in my palms purr-fectly.
The first thing that caught my eye when I opened the box was
this soft, furry white pouch with dazzling blue stones as eyes.
The back of the palette
This was too cute to ignore. I love you too, Shu Uemura!:)

There's this cute white paw prints on the protective film and again, too cute to ignore!
Close-up
Shupette has-it-all eye & lip palette comes in a white, sturdy plastic casing with a reflective, built-in mirror-like as its front cover. There's an animated picture of Shupette on the right side and the mirror-like front cover does get smudgy with fingerprints but no worries, it is easy to clean. Just give it a wipe down and it looks like new!

In this palette, there are a total of  8 eyeshadows and 6 lip colours. All of the eyeshadows has fine shimmer and the texture is buttery smooth. To be honest, I was expecting dry, dull, shimmer-packed eyeshadows. But boy, I was so wrong. The eyeshadows swatched beautifully and it seems to melt on your eyes making it look bright and youthful. I will let the swatches do the talking.

As for the lip colours, I was also expecting sticky and weak colours as I have experienced it in most palettes and again, I was proven wrong. They were a dream to apply and looked beautiful on the lips without needing to use a lip balm. On to the swatches!

Shu Uemura, you have outdone yourself this time
Swatches of the left side of the palette.
As you can see, on the left side of the palette which consists of warmer, earthy colours that were meant to be use for daytime or for an everyday look. From the swatches, there are no tugging or powder residues for the eyeshadows - buttery smooth all the way. The lip colours, my favourite would be the red shade in the middle. See the white circle? That's the swatch of the pastel nude shade and I think it is meant to be semi-transparent. It is for those who doesn't want any lip colour but still want to achieve a glossy and plump finish for their lips.

Swatches on the left side of the palette
On the left side of the palette, the colours leans more towards cooler tones and dramatic shades for both eyeshadows and lip colours. This side of the palette is meant for night time or for occasion such as parties, etc. My favourite shades has to be the taupe-ish purple base eyeshadow and the pearly black eyeshadow. I was blown away by the pigmentation of the black eyeshadow. You can use it as an eyeliner if you prefer to travel light and it gives a softer look if compared to pen/pencil black eyeliner regardless of any formulas. The lip colours are.. AH-MAZING.

If you love the attention, the pink lip colour is the colour for you. But if you are like me, who loves the dark, smoldery look - the berry red lip colour is our 'thang'. As for the last shade, it's meant for to be used especially if you have a super heavy eye makeup going on. It is best to stick to a nude or near to natural lip colour to even the look/face out. I know cakes are delicious and is the main attraction of a party but you wouldn't want to look like a birthday cake now, do you?

Shu Uemura Shupette eye-need-shu liner - RM75

When it comes to pencil eyeliners, it is really hard to please me. I look for longevity, smudge-proof, sweat-proof, and water-proof in most of my eyeliners. Sounds like a big, pair of shoes to fill in, Shu Uemura's eyeliners seem to almost fit in. The shade of this eyeliner is called Midnight Black, and the shade does live up to its name. It's a gorgeous black eyeliner with an electrifying blue sheen to it when the light hits it. The only thing that gets me is that I find it a little dry to work with. Maybe there's a technique to it that I have not figured it out yet. I will share it with you when I have found a way to make it work for me.

I haven't gotten the chance to create some crazy, statement eye makeup.. So here are some everyday "eye-makeup" I have created from the palette :

I just love the warm, earthy tones that glows on my eyes!

Shu Uemura Shupette Silk Cushion Cheek in Pink - RM100

Left : Unblended swatch of Shupette Silk Cushion Cheek
Right : Blended swatch of Shupette Silk Cushion Cheek
As a self-proclaimed makeup hoarder lover, I have come across powder, liquid, cream, and stick formulas for blushers but never have I seen a "cushion-like" formula. Ladies, meet Shu Uemura Shupette Silk Cushion Cheek in Pink. It's formula is described as "marshmallow-like" formula by Shu Uemura and I have to agree to that. Observe the first picture on its top right, I took an upclose picture to show you how soft the formula by leaving an imprint on the surface even when I gently pressed it. It's not powdery yet creamy. I can't seem to place my finger on it.

How and what did I use to apply this blush? That's a tough question. I tried using my fingers but that didn't work too well. I resorted to getting a cream blush brush from Zoeva (128 Cream Cheek Face Brush) and that.. let's just say I didn't achieve the look I wanted. My skin has been suffering from a major breakout of late and the surface is filled with imperfections. I found that this Silk Cushion Cheek emphasizes the imperfections on my face, hence I wouldn't recommend it if you have an uneven skin surface like me. But however, if you have a flawless skin, this blush would look lovely on you as it doesn't leave a flat, matte or powdery finish. Glow, girl, glow!

Conclusion

I don't get easily excited about a holiday collection or any makeup collection because I just can't seem to keep up with it. The only exceptions are, the MAC Cosmetics Archie Collection, Urban Decay Pulp Fiction Collection  and now, Shu Uemura's Shupette Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Collection. If you are a cat lover and a makeup lover, this holiday collection is a must have.  I kid you not. I regretted not taking back the Shupette life-size cardboards :(

If you were to ask me which of these items I would recommend, it would be the Shupette Has-It-All Eye & Lip palette. I know it is pricey at RM350 but I'll leave it to you to do the calculation. If you only want certain colours of the eyeshadows or lip colours, you can get their Shupette Eye-Need-Shu Trio or Shupette Rouge Bonbon Fantasy Trio. Both of them are priced at RM120 each and it's available in 2 colours.

As for the Shupette Eye-Need-Shu Liner, it's priced at RM75 each and it's available in 2 colours : Midnight Black and Gala Brown. Do you need this? Yes, if you have ran out of eyeliners or you simply just love cats. You can't ignore those cute, printed paws on the eyeliner. Last but not least, the Shupette Silk Cushion Cheek priced at RM100 each and it's available in 2 shades : Orange and Pink. Do you need it? Yes, if you don't have a blusher or if you have flawless skin or if you want to achieve that Korean/Japanese glowy skin.
