Annoucement : Golden Rose has reached our shores! Part 2

EYE. SEE. YUHH. You are back for Part 2!

Haha, it a sign I am mentally exhausted but my fingers won't stop typing. Let's not waste anymore precious time, shall we? This is my favourite part of any makeup line. The eyes collection. Ooh, I am infamously known as the Mascara Monster because I eat mascaras. Figuratively. Most of my friends or family members can vouch for that because I have tons of used mascaras that I do not have the heart to throw away. Yes, I think can add Mascara Hoard to my list now. I loveeeee mascaras!

Eye Collection

Mascaras

Golden Rose has a healthy range of mascaras to pick from. If you think their range of lipglosses is crazy, think again when you see this list of mascaras they have!

Have I lost you yet? With this long list of mascaras, the mascara fiend in me is just bursting with joy! I haven't gotten the chance to try them out yet but when I do, I will surely let you know how they perform.

Golden Rose Wonder Lash Mascara 12x Volume & Lash Lift's brush on the right.

As you can see from above, I was introduced to 6 mascaras that might be brought in this coming March/April 2015 which are  :
  • Golden Rose Peferct Lashes Maxi Curl Mascara
  • Golden Rose Perfect Lashes Great Waterproof Mascara
  • Golden Rose Perfect Lashes Ultra Volume x4 Mascara
  • Golden Rose Wonder Lash Mascara 12x Volume & Lash Lift
  • Golden Rose Definitive Volume & Length Mascara
  • Golden Rose Sexy Black Mascara
  • Golden Rose 3D Fantastic Lash Mascara *as seen in their instagram account*
Let's talk about Golden Rose Wonder Lash Mascara 12x Volume & Lash Lift. It comes in this reflective, gold tube that resembles like a mini gold brick/tube. Admittedly, the packaging does gives that luxurious vibe. Whereas the brush, it looks promising but I sincerely hope it's 12x Volume & Lash Lift claim lives up to its name. This may not be the best brush for beauties with small eyes or sparse or short eyelashes. Allow me to guide you to pick the best mascara brush for your eyelashes to achieve your desired look.

Now, here I have taken close-up pictures of Golden Rose Definitive Volume & Length Mascara and Golden Rose Sexy Black Mascara. The Golden Rose Definitive Volume & Length Mascara comes in a reflective, bright metallic pink tube with a slight twist in the design. The wand is peanut-shaped which is good for long, dark eyelash owners. Not one of my favourite mascara wands but it's workable if you know the best technique to use it. If not, you would be struggling trying to add volume when you are in a rush. Not fun.

Whereas for the Golden Rose Sexy Black Mascara, it comes in this sweet pink tube, with it's back clad in actual black lace. I kid you not. For mascara collectors, this is one mascara you should add to your collection. The packaging is down right prettyyyyyy. As for the wand, it's a sphere-shaped wand allowing you to coat each lash with precision starting from the lash line. The round brush curls and separates lashes perfectly, making the lashes look fuller and dense.

Last but not least, the three musketeers! All of them comes in a black and gold tube and this range is called Perfect Lashes. Oh, how I'd love perfect lashes! If I were to personally pick the mascara for my personal use, it would be volume, volume, and volume. No volume, no buy. Simple as that. I must have volume when it comes to my eyelashes and had always envied my Indian friends who are blessed with thick, luscious lashes! Especially my boyfriend. I feel so jealous whenever I look at his eyelashes. It's ridonkulously long and thick! :p

Eyebrow Pencil and Eyebrow Powder

Eyebrows! To be honest, it was only last year I begin to pick up the eyebrow pencil to use on my eyebrows. I always had this fear of looking like Crayon Shinchan.

Yes, I'm not kidding. I follow tons of makeup gurus on instagram and their eyebrows are like beyond perfection. Which human on earth have natural eyebrows like that?!! It's super frustrating because the standards for 'perfect' makeup has been set so high that it seems impossible to achieve that 'perfect' look. Okay, back to the products. Here I have Golden Rose Dream Eyebrow Pencil and Golden Rose Eyebrow Powder. The Golden Rose Dream Eyebrow Pencil consists of 9 colours ranging from shade 301 to 309. As for the Golden Rose Eyebrow Powder, the shades consists of 7 shades ranging from 101 to 107. All I can say is the Eyebrow Powder is promising.

Eyeliners

If you are an eyeliner Monster, you should be looking forward to Golden Rose's range of eyeliners. The swatches of the eyeliners are just.. WOW. Really. There are 9 types of eyeliner from Golden Rose, which are:

  • Golden Rose Cat Eyes Liner
  • Golden Rose Precision Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Style Liner Metallic Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Black & Black Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Perfect Lashes Black Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Extreme Sparkle Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Dipliner Liquid Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Volume Eyeliner
  • Golden Rose Black Eyeliner

I can't wait to get my hands on GR Style Liner Metallic Eyeliner! Look at that gold! It's just gorgeous. I have never seen such shade of gold before. It looks soft and smooth. Super excited here!!

Eyeshadows

When it comes to eyeshadows in Golden Rose, some of them are a hit and miss. Here are the list of eyeshadows Golden Rose provides:
  • Golden Rose Selective Colour Palette Eyeshadow (3 selections)
  • Golden Rose Professional Palette Eyeshadow (10 selections)
  • Golden Rose Wet & Dry Eyeshadow (7 selections)
  • Golden Rose Eyeshadow Palette (Only one)
  • Golden Rose Terracotta Eyeshadow (8 selections)
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Matte Eyeshadow (14 selections)
  • Golden Rose Silky Touch Pearl Eyeshadow (34 selections)
Let's view the swatches!
Golden Rose Wet & Dry Eyeshadow in 07
This GR Wet and Dry eyeshadow in shade 07 comes in a baked formula where you can use the eyeshadows wet or dry, hence the name of the palette! When applied dry, it seemed a little weak but it was still an acceptable pigmenation. But when I swatched it with my damp fingers, I was literally blown away by its finish and pigmentation. Look at that wine colour red with slight purple undertones! I am in love! I dare say this palette is a must-have if you are following the colour of the year.

GR Selective Colour Palette Eyeshadow in 02
Remember I mentioned about a hit and miss earlier? Yep, unfortunately for this Sleek I-Divine palette look-alike, the matte eyeshadows were quite disappointing. The formulas reminds me of Sleek's previous I-Divine formulas where the mattes were quite chalky. But I do think the chalkiness can be overcomed by a good eye primer. I shall let the swatches do the talking.

Left : Golden Rose Professional Palette in Smokey Eyes
Right : Golden Rose Silky Touch Matte Eyeshadow in 206
Another hit and miss for GR Professional Palette in Smokey Eyes. It looks so good in its packaging and pan but when swatches. Aiyyyeee. On the far right, it's the GR Silky Touch Matte Eyeshadow in 206. Surprisingly, this swatched pretty well. It wasn't patchy or chalky. The single eyeshadows seems promising!

Well, that's about it for Part 2. See you in Part 3!

Thank you for reading!
Love,
Sarah :)

Review : Reacheer Easy-Hand-Painted Eyeliner

As they say once you go Black, you will never go back.
I have never quite liked gel liners. My very first gel liner was from Maybelline and I dislike it.
Smudges on me like there's no tomorrow by transferring itself onto my upper eyelids.

Sorry Maybelline, I love you and your mascaras but not the gel liner.

Sale Alert : Sephora Sale Haul 2013

Earlier this week, I received an sale notification email from Sephora just after Christmas but I didn't give much thought to it as I wasn't planning on visiting Sephora.

Well. Fast forward. I took an innocent waltz into the shop without anything on my mind to purchase and came out with these items from Sephora in Sunway Pyramid yesterday.
I didn't expect to bring home these babies but with SALE - which girl could resist??

How Tickled are you when it comes to the color Pink?

The size of the eyeshadow
Front Cover - Gold Embossed 'Milani'
Ingredients

As you can see, it is quite a pretty big pan of a whopping 3.1g of  pressed powder! It is slightly larger in size if compared to the MAC Paint Pots. The packaging is made of sturdy plastic and hard plastic cover to cushion accidental drops. *gasps* You wouldn't want to do that on purpose now, would ya? I rather not test it on my purchase. No thank you.

The size is just nice for you to hold it in your palm, not too small nor too big. Making it easy to open and close without fumbling. So far, I have not experience any dissatisfaction using it and it gave me no problem at all physically speaking.

Now, on to the product itself.

Based on the swatches I seen online, it swatched really well showing it glorious pigmentation. But when I swatched it, I must admit I was like, "Uh, that was it?". Most importantly, the colour did show up quite well on one swatch. But not enough to make me go, OMGEEEE.

The texture is quite powdery as you can see the picture below :

POWDA!
In my opinion, it applies averagely smoothly but a little base might help in this area to keep it in place.

Now, onto the colour. This is the MAIN reason why I purchased it. It strongly reminds me of my Smashbox Trio Eyeshadow in Headshot where the I'm in love with the pink shade called Golden Orchid. The color has a very pretty golden sheen to it which makes in unique and wearable for warm toned girls. ITSOPRETTYIMMAGONNADAIIII

Okay, since I was playing around with this shade. I decided why not let you girls see how you can bring your favourite eyeshadows to life with a simple thing called, a base. My little wee project consist of :
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
  • MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study
  • MAC Paint Pot in Rubensque
  • MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork
  • MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist
  • Milani Powder Eyeshadow in Tickled Pink
  • ELF Essentials Eyeshadow Brush
  • ELF Studio Concealer Brush
  • Konad Cosmetics Drawing Style Eyeliner in Black

Below are the swatches on the primer & base.
  • Ori - Eyeshadow w/o primer or base
  • UD - Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • P - Painterly
  • BS - Bare Study
  • R - Rubensque
  • G - Groundwork
  • C - Construtivist

From the pictures, you can tell this little gem shines the brightest with MAC Paint Pot in Bare Study & Rubensque :) Somehow UDPP & Painterly just kills the color by making it look flat and pink, toning down its beautiful golden sheen. It can be paired with Groundwork & Constructivist for a pink-brown smokey eye which I have been loving for sometime now. It is a match-made in heaven.

OVERALL : The unique shade it is this eyeshadows' saving grace and honestly, it is a beautiful piece to own and wear for days you wanna look extra sweet. So are you tickled yet?

Would love to hear from you girls :)

Sarah.

Review & Swatches : NYX Retractable Eyeliners

NYX. A brand that never fails to surprise me.
Ever since internet & cosmetics collided in my world, I found NYX.

Here, as you can see. I have a collection of NYX Retractable Eyeliners.
Some ordered through sprees & some from Sephora <3

From left : Gypsy Blue, Golden Olive, Bronze, Brown, Gold & Silky Cashmere

The colors are superbly pigmented, smooth & oh-so-breathtaking.

FYI : Sephora Malaysia only carry 3 colors from this line which is Black, Olive Green & Silky Cashmere. OHSOSAD..... *tears*
They should seriously consider to expand the color selections of their NYX line. If not, online spree is the only way.

Here is a breakdown of the colors I have :

Gypsy Blue - Teal, fine shimmer.
Golden Olive - Olive green, fine shimmer.
Bronze - Dark glittering bronze, contains obvious gold glitter chunks.
Brown - Chocolaty brown with a neutral base, not to black nor too red. Matte finish. PERFECTO!
Gold - A yellow-based gold color with a tinge of vintage touch to it. Not those bright gold.
Silky Cashmere - A neutral toned pink-brown with a shimmery finish.

Above : Make Up Remover test. Only wiped ONCE across the swatches.
From the picture, we can see that Gypsy Blue is the obvious winner in terms of withstanding a single swipe of the make up remover. The make up remover used in this test is Mandom Bifesta Beauty Cleansing Express Sebum (a review coming up!) which is one of my must-have cleansing product in removing make up & dirt. ♥

OK. Let's talk facts.

Pigmentation  - ♥
Longevity
Price -

The eyeliners from this NYX Retractable line is without a doubt excellent in terms of pigmentation, color & texture. It applies smoothly & does not tug my eyelids. Smudging is possible in the first 5 second time frame for that soft or sultry look. It does not bleed or smudge once it is dried up.
Experience : I used NYX Retractable in Bronze without any eye primer or eyeshadow as I was in my lazy mode. Paired it with my mascara and headed out running about with my errands. After an hour or two, its still intact! WOOHOO. It can withstand Malaysia's hot & humid weather. Love! About 4-5 hours later, I noticed that it transferred slightly onto my crease area. Not complaining as it is hard to come by an eyeliner which is affordable & pigmented.
The packaging is well thought out as it is retracts in and out easily without any hassle. It helps save time on sharpening & a whole load of mess. Plus, it also helps save a lot of product from being wasted away by sharpening. I started out with pencil liners, but ever since I was introduced to NYX's Retractable Eyeliner things has never been the same again. Bliss~

Well, that is about it for now. I am feeling extremely sleepy but yet my fingers is not showing any sign of slowing down. LOL.

Have you used any of these eyeliners before?
What do you think of them?

I would totally love to hear from you :)

TTFN,
Sarah.
