Review

"Create a healthy and natural glow all year long with the Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder. The Blush highlights the cheeks to add a flush of color, while the Bronzer accents and contours cheekbones for beautiful definition. This convenient compact has just what you need to achieve a gorgeous glow anytime, anywhere."
Eyes Lips Face Cosmetics, fondly known as ELF in the blogsphere and has been around in Malaysia via online for a couple of years now. This brand is no stranger to makeup lovers out there. With its affordable price tag and fairly amazing quality, I would say ELF is worth its hype. But do note that like in every brand, there is always a "hit and miss" product. For this Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder, it is a hit.

This multitasker has been compared with the famous Nars Orgasm Laguna side by side, some even considered it a dupe for Nars Orgasm Laguna/Deep Throat. I don't have a Nars Orgasm Laguna to help you decide but there are a lot of references online which you can google it up and be the judge.

Let's talk about the packaging. The packaging, as mentioned in the picture, its compact and sturdy. The size is about or slightly bigger than the palm of my hands. As you can see from the side profile, it is relatively slim making it a travel-friendly product. Besides it's physical attribute making it travel-friendly, having a blush and bronzer in one packaging is one big, confident tick in the travel-friendly box! Not forgetting, the size of the mirror is big enough for a quick touch up and it actually works.

Next up, the swatches. I have two pictures, side by side, in different lighting to show how much difference the lighting influences the outcome. The Contouring Blush is my personal favourite. I love how it strikes a balance between peach and pink with a tinge of golden sheen when the light hits it. It does not have that power-packed golden sheen that Sleek Rose Gold Blush or Nars Orgasm Blush are both guilty of. It illustrates a soft, sweet, and light look when applied. The best part is, it does not contain chunks of shimmer but the shimmer is only visible upclose.

As for the Bronzing Powder, I must say I am not a bronzer kind-of-girl. So I don't use it as much as I should. But, during my final year production for my Drama Production course, I helped out in the makeup section (I wouldn't miss the chance!). Some of my coursemates who had darker skintones had some trouble finding foundations or powders that suited them as most of them don't wear makeup or are not makeup fanatics unlike me. So, I used the Bronzing Powder as their setting powder after foundation or too darken the white cast wherever possible. I must say it was a success. My coursemate's skintone looked so much natural and did not look too "white" or "fair". Note that the Bronzing Powder does contain fine shimmer, so do think twice before piling up on your face.

The shades, suits fairer to olive skintones but I am not sure whether it will show up on darker skinned beauties. Texture wise, it may not be as finely milled as I wished it would be but with the affordable price tag, I am willing to overlook it.

Recommendation

This Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder is great, if you are -
  • a makeup beginner
  • a travel bug
  • love peachy pink blushers
  • a makeup junkie
  • a lover of 2 in 1 products
  • always on the run
Avoid this Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder if you -
  • don't want to look gorgeous
  • have a lot of blush and bronzing powder (such nonsense. we can never have too many blushes!)

Honestly, I can't find much fault with this Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder. It does not over-promise and it has a bank account-friendly price tag. A perfect combo.
