Unboxing Vanity Trove's May 2013!

I know this post is long overdue but better late than never!
Let's not dilly-dally any longer, shall we?

This May trove consisted of THREE full-sized items.
Details below :

1. Schwarzkopf Professional Essensity Natural Shine Serum, 50ml
(RM56 for 50ml)

"This feather-light serum gives a natural velvet shine to your hair surfaces, smoothes your tresses and tames the unruliest mane around. It contains a combination of organic essences of sesame and olive oils to improve hair texture quality for easy maintenance."

First Impression :

I am not exactly a fan of using hair products after washing my hair. I am not sure why but I am sure I don't like it. So far, the only product I have been using it consistently is Charles Worthington London Hair Serum for controlling frizzy, unruly hair. It does not have any scent which goes well with any shampoo/conditioner that already have a scent & it does not leave an oily, slippery film on your hands. I LOVE IT! - Guess what, Watsons discontinued it. *rollsoveranddie*. Why? WHY?  - rambling again.

Anyway tested this product on my hair once, not so sure about the shine but I don't get that smoothness after-use I initially expected since its a serum as most of the hair serums (not many) I have come across leaves that silky smooth finish. Another try perhaps?

2. Avene Eau Thermale Spring Water, 50ml.
(RM19 for 50ml, RM39 for 150ml & RM55 for 300ml)

"Treat your skin to a fine mist whenever you feel the need! The skin will become less sensitive, more balanced and has better defence mechanisms. Soothing, softening, anti-irritant and anti-free radical."

Review :
I have been using Avene's Spring Water on and off due to a student's budget. So far, I have used it to :
- 'set' my makeup : it helps soften that overly-powdered or cakey look faster.
- calm my skin after extraction : whiteheads, blackheads & all the works. it does lessen the redness but not those sore, irritated ones.
- spray to refresh my skin after a long day out.

It is, an essential? It depends on individual preferences. But if I was earning (or your budget allows it) I would have these travel-friendly bottles in my handbag wherever I go all the time.
FYI : Guardian/Watsons/Sasa sometimes do have these in bigger bottles (4 in a set) deal with an awesome price tag that is worth checking out :)

3. Skinlab's Pure South Fresh Goat's Milk Body Lotion in Rose Blossom & Rosella, 30ml
(RM59 for 255ml)

"Scented with native Australian plant extracts and pure essentials, the vitamin A and D-rich lotion is effective for treating dry and distressed skin conditions. It contains rose oil and Roselle extracts that stimulate metabolism for optimal skin cell renewal."

First Impression :

Once again, I'm not a fan of putting anything on my skin or hair after a nice, clean shower. Except my face which I don't have a choice. (>_>) It smells nice though! Usually I would cringe at the label when the word "Rose" on it - can't stand the scent! But this lotion smells suprisingly refreshing and calming. Worth a try :)

4. Skinlab's Tilley Goat Milk Bar Soap, Full-sized (RM12 for a bar)

"The body bars are wonderfully creamy in texture and provide gentle cleansing on sensitive skin. With its ingredients sourced directly from Australian Goat Milk farm, it is pure and enriched with skin conditioning Organic Shea Butter, Organic Jojoba Oil and Organic Cocoa Butter."

Review :
Initially, I was thinking - "Aww man, this is gonna be quite 'ma fan' to use.". I thought wrong. All thanks to that fateful day when I have ran out of my Shokubutsu body wash, thank goodness for Tilley Goat Milk Bar Soap! (Hehe, thank you too Vanity Trove!)

The scent is nice but I'm guessing it has to be an acquired scent for a handful of people. Goat milk scented products are not so mainstream. I love the after effects of the soap, it leaves my skin - mostly importantly squeaky clean, then soft and smooth. You can tell I love it to bits when I was offered to try out VT's first create your own beauty box and saw this product available - I added into my cart. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Purposely bought a bar soap container to contain this baby. Retailing at Skinlab outlets for RM12 per bar, this bar soap could last me about a month plus of daily usage - 3 times a day. I would repurchase this bar soap and use it during the weekends when I have my own sweet time to scrub & lather myself with this awesome soap. YOU SHOULD TRY IT TOO! <3

5. Heaven on Earth Essential Oil Lavender, 1.5ml (RM50 for 5ml)
"An essential oil to promote sleep, balance and tone skin, reduces anxiety and aches, soothes insect bites and provides a relaxing and soothing inner calm."

First Impression :

There are a few scents available from this range and each scent has an unique usage. The item received was Lavender scented essential oil which is PLUS POINT simply because I love the scent of Lavender. Not forgetting the colour as well. So calming, so soothing to the eyes. I did give this essential oil a few whiff(s) and it naturally calms my tensed up muscles and mind. Indeed a 'Heaven on Earth'. (Pun intended)
